ANNOUNCEMENTS FEBRUARY 8, 2018

Floyd Central’s production of The Hunchback of Notre Dame (pronounced the French way…not like the university in South Bend please) will run this weekend and next.  Get your tickets at the Box Office during the school day or online at floydcentraltheatre.org.  

 

Students in grades 10-12 may sign up at the Bookstore by Feb. 23rd to take the ASVAB test. Space is limited to the first 45 students wanting to take the exam. This exam can be used as a career exploration tool.  Test date is March 1st.  See Ms Eisner or Mr. Clark if you have questions.

 

Only two days left to get your Valentine’s CRUSH Can in the spine for a $1.00.  All purchases will be delivered on Valentine’s Day and proceeds go to Blessings in a backpack.  Send one or more to your bestie, your crush or even your favorite staff member! 
 
Dance Marathon Spirit Week tomorrow is – Giddy Up Wild West & Hat Day (you must pay $1 to wear a hat to school). This year’s dance theme is the Wild West.
 
Art Honor Society meets today until 4pm.

 

NEW:  FCHS Alumni Association scholarship is available to seniors who are a child/grandchild of an FC alumni. Deadline to apply is April 10.

 

February 24th  FCA is hosting the first Foodbank dodgeball tournament. The event starts at 10 am (Feb 24) in the auxiliary gym. The entry fee is 5 cans of food per team for the local food bank. 5 players per team. The winning team with receive gift cards. To sign your team up, DM FCA on social media. You can find us on Instagram and Twitter @floyd_fca. Registration closes on February 22. If you can dodge a wrench you can dodge a ball.

Boys’ track will meet today at 2:50 in the MPR room for all interested.  Monday is the first day of practice. 

 

Prosser Applications are available in Student Services for students attending Prosser NEXT YEAR. You must complete the application with a recommendation before returning to your Counselor.    

 

If you are interested in a career in health science, representatives from U of L schools of dentistry, medicine, nursing and public health will be on hand to discuss skills needed in those fields.  Date is February 10.  Register online.

U of L invites you to join them at DerbyHacks3! A 24 hour hackathon where students invent and create a project using computer programming and hardware. This event is FREE, and all food is provided and there will be free swag! No coding experience is required, but recommended so you can spend more time working towards a finished project. You must bring a laptop with you. To attend please sign up at DerbyHacks.io (more information is posted in the counseling area.)

MAC Construction offers scholarships to students majoring in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology.  Deadline is March 16.  
 
Clark County REMC Scholarships are available for Ivy Tech, IUS and Purdue Polytechnic of New Albany. You must receive Clark County REMC services. Visit theremc.com/scholarships to apply. Deadline is March 19.
 
Kiwanis Scholarship is available to a senior planning to attend college in Indiana. Deadline is February 16.
 
IUPUI School of Informatics and Computing offers summer workshops including web applications, interactive media, digital games and health/medical research.  Workshops run throughout month of June.
