 Stop by the table at the bookstore at lunch to pre-order your "How do you roll?" blackout shirt for the Jeffersonville football game. Shirts have sold out each week so it is important to sign up if you want one.
Mr. Harbison is planning a group trip to Italy and Greece in June of 2014. We are going to Rome, Capri island, Pompeii, Athens and Delphi. 10 days – the cost is students under 19 -$3,800 and adults $4,200.  We are trying to fill up an FC bus of 46 people.    Come join us!!!  See Mr. Harbison for more information.
SENIORS don’t forget to turn in the TEALcolored form todayto your counselor.   This form is for those seniors planning to graduate with a Technical Honors or Academic Honors Diploma and is verification for the Frank O’Bannon Grant Program. 
The Indiana Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance, offers a scholarship opportunity for students pursuing a career in health, PE, Dance or Sport Administration.  Four $500 scholarships will be given to high school seniors.  Deadline Jan. 15, 2013.  Website posted in the guidance office (www.inahperd.org)
Sen. Dan Coats is honored to have the opportunity to nominate outstanding students to the U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy, Merchant Marine Academy and West Point.  These are fully funded, 4 year federal government programs to attend these most highly respected quality education programs in the nation, that also require military service after graduation.  To be considered, students need to complete and submit the application by November 1, 2012. 
Any senior who has not had a yearbook picture taken with Wright Studio for the yearbook – you have one final chance NEXT Thursday, Sept. 13th after school in the MPR room. There will be a $10 late fee.  Your picture will not appear in the yearbook unless you get this picture taken through Wright’s.
Western Kentucky University has an open house planned for students and parents on Tuesday, Oct. 2nd at 6:30pm at the Muhammad Ali Center in Louisville.  A tour of the Museum is free beginning at 5:30 for those attending.
Boston University will be here Wednesday, Sept. 12th at 2pm;   Bellarmine University will be here on Thursday, Sept. 13th at 9am;  Indiana Tech will be here on Sept. 13th at 10am and  Butler will be here on Sept 14th at 9:30 to talk to interested students.  You must sign up in the guidance office for these visits.
The chess teams’ first meeting is after school next Thursday, Sept. 13th in A-204.  Chess team is open to all students interested in team competition whether you're an experienced player or wanting to improve your game.  See Mr. McRae in A-204 if you have any questions.

The Bagpiper is accepting submissions for their Student Spotlight pages. This section is for students outside the news magazine to share their writings, art, photos, videos and talents.  Email your submission to fcstudentspotlight@gmail.com. , or drop it off in the green & gold box in the lunch room or B-107 during lunch.  Include your name, grade and email address on all submissions.

SCHOLARSHIPS  -    COLLEGE INFORMATION                                                                             
Open to all students: If you’ve made a difference by volunteering over the past year, you could win A  $1,000 and a trip to Washington DC by applying for a Prudential Spirit of Community Award.  Deadline is Nov. 6th. See the bulletin board in the guidance area for all websites.  (Apply at www.nassp.org/spirit)
The Horatio Alger Association offers scholarships up to $20,000 to students exhibiting financial need and integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity.  Deadline is October 25.www.horatioalger.org/scholarships. 
Gilda’s Club  of Louisville offers support for children whose lives are touched by cancer.  An essay contest with the theme:  “It’s always something. This time it’s cancer.” offers a $500 award for students who are cancer survivors or who have a family member or friend who has/had cancer.  This contest is open to students in grades 6-12.  For more information, go to www.gildasclublouisville.orgDeadline is October 1.
The Wendy’s High School Heisman 2012 application is now available online.  All senior student athletes with a B average are encouraged to apply!!  The first 25,000 students who apply are guaranteed a Wendy’s gift card.  Go to www.wendysheisman.comto apply.  Deadline is October 2.                                                                                                                 
Students interested in attending Washington University in St. Louis, see a counselor to be nominated for the William H. and Elizabeth Gray Danforth Scholars Program for students who have exhibited service and leadership, as well as academic excellence.  Deadline for nomination is October 15.
Wabash College offers the Top Ten Scholarship Program for males in the top 10% of their class.  The scholarship is valued at $70,000 over four years.  Students must complete Early Decision application by November 15 or Early Action application by December 1 in order to be eligible.
